Club Christmas Dinner

We've decided to hold a club Christmas dinner on Wednesday 19th December at the Toby Carvery in Buckhurst Hill as that was the date that suited the most people.  We're aiming for dinner at 7:30pm though can always get a drink in the bar beforehand.  If you're planning to come please try and let either me or Les know beforehand but you are welcome to just come along on the evening.

Also, a quick reminder that we have our final club night of the year on Tuesday so hope to see lots of you there.  We'll be starting back again on the 8th January 2013.

Spare club court and Xmas dinner

There's another match taking place at Trinity tomorrow evening (Friday) between 8pm and 10pm and so one of the courts will be available for club use if anyone wants to play.  Since this isn't a regular club night it'll be pay and play for everyone, £4 for adults and £2 for juniors and you can give me the money next Tuesday.  If you do want to come along tomorrow you're welcome to just turn up and play but if you can try and let me know first in case there's too few or too many.

Also, we're thinking of having a club dinner and drinks one evening before Christmas probably at the Toby Carvery in Buckhurst Hill on either Thursday 6th, Wednesday 19th or Thursday 20th of December.  If anyone would be interested in joining us then please let me know which of these dates would be best.

Finally just a reminder that we have 4 more club weeks left before Christmas, up to and including the 18th December, so hope to see lots of you there on Tuesdays.

The new season starts on Tuesday!

Hi everyone,

Hope you've all had a good break over the last month and are looking forward to the new season of badminton.

We start again this coming Tuesday 4th September at Trinity High School at 8pm as usual.  Hope to see lots of you back again!  Also, we're still on the lookout for new members so if you would like to join the club please do get in touch.

The rates for the coming year are:

• Full annual membership is £200 payable in two equal parts.
• Pay and play is £7 per night.
• Up to 18s receive a 50% discount on normal membership and pay and play rates.
• Full time students can pay and play for £5 per night or receive a 20% discount on annual membership.

Note that this doesn't include membership to the BAoE which is an optional extra charge of approximately £16 (this is required if you want to play matches).

Finally, the minutes of the last club AGM as well as the details of the club accounts for the 2011-2012 season are available now so if you haven't already received these or have any questions about them please do email the club.

Are you looking to join the club?

Chingford Badminton Club is currently taking it's summer break but will be starting again on Tuesday 4th September and we are looking for new members so if you're interested in joining then please do get in touch (see here for details).

The club plays doubles badminton and has a wide range of standards of players so provided you know how to play and are enthusiastic you should get on fine.  We have access to a great 3 court sports hall for our sessions and currently have about 16 regular players but are looking to increase this (up to a maximum of 24 so that nobody should have to ever wait more than 1 game between playing).

We offer pay and play for £7 per person per session so you can come along and see what you think of the club and after that you're welcome to switch to an annual membership or continue as pay and play.  Discounts are available for students and juniors (see here for full details).

If you are interested in coming along and giving the club a try then please do get in touch.  We would kindly ask for all new members to let us know in advance when they're planning to come for the first time so that we know to expect you and someone can be there to show you through to the sports hall.

Final week of Badminton this season

Just a quick reminder that this coming Tuesday (31st July) will be the final session of the season so hope lots of you can make it down.

After that I hope everyone enjoys the summer break during August and we look forward to seeing you for the start of the new season on Tuesday 4th September.

Back to Trinity School this week

Just a reminder that the club is back at Trinity High School this coming Tuesday (3rd July) at 8pm and will continue there for the whole of July.  Pay and Play is £6 for everyone (£3 for juniors).

No badminton this week

Unfortunately Peter May have an event taking place all day this coming Tuesday (26th June) which means the sports hall is not available and so we're not going to be able to hold a club session.

The next club session will be the following week (Tuesday 3rd July) when we'll be back at Trinity High School at 8pm.

Next three weeks at Peter May

Just a quick reminder that we'll be playing at Peter May again this coming Tuesday and the following two weeks (12th, 19th and 26th June) from 8pm to 10pm. Pay and play is £6 per session.

Also, please do try to let me know in advance if you're planning to attend each week as we will try to book an additional court if we have enough people coming.

No badminton this week

Just a quick reminder that there won't be any badminton this coming Tuesday (5th June) due to the Jubilee bank holiday.

For the rest of the season the schedule is as follows:

• 5th June - No badminton (bank holiday)
• 12th June - Peter May
• 19th June - Peter May
• 26th June - Peter May
• 3rd July - Trinity
• 10th July - Trinity
• 17th July - Trinity
• 24th July - Trinity
• 31st July - Trinity

The club will then take a break during August and will restart when the school goes back at the start of September.

Just a reminder for everyone that we will be playing at the Peter May sports center (http://www.better.org.uk/leisure/peter-may-sports-centre/) again next week (Tuesday 29th May) from 8pm to 10pm and that it's pay and play for everyone at £6.  If possible please do try to let me or Les know in advance in case we need to book an additional court but you are welcome to just turn up on the night as well so hope to see lots of you there.

Also, please note that the following week is the Jubilee bank holiday and so the club won't be playing at all so the next session will be on Tuesday 12th June.

AGM time!

Just a reminder that this coming week (Tuesday 22nd May) we're holding our club AGM at the Toby Carvery in Buckhurst Hill  (http://www.tobycarvery.co.uk/buckhursthillessex/) instead of the usual club session.

The meeting starts about 8pm but some of us will be there from 7pm to have food first so please join us if you can.

Change of time for coming week

Unfortunately we've heard back from Peter May and apparently they've had to move one of their classes into the main hall this week and so we can only have the court from 9pm to 10pm but a few of us will still be going down so hopefully others will be able to join us.  It'll only be £3 pay and play for those who want to come.

Coming up the next two weeks

As you hopefully all know by now, we're not going to be able to use the hall at Trinity for the next couple of months while the school exams are going on.  We have been looking around for other venues to play at during this period and are planning to try using Peter May (http://www.better.org.uk/leisure/peter-may-sports-centre/) again this year starting on this coming Tuesday, 15th May.  Since these are after our regular season it will be pay and play for everyone who wants to come but at the lower rate of £6 per session (or £3 for students).  We have a court booked from 8pm to 10pm and we hope to see as many people there as possible, although I would ask that if you are planning to come along please try to let me or Les know first as we might need to book another court if lots of you are going to make it.

The following week, Tuesday, 22nd May, we won't be playing as instead we're going to hold our AGM to discuss what we'll do as a club over the coming year (committee, membership, venue, matches, etc.).  As in previous years we'll meet at the Toby Carvery in Buckhurst Hill (http://www.tobycarvery.co.uk/buckhursthillessex/) and will start the meeting at 8pm although some of us will be there from 7pm to have dinner so if you'd like to eat first then do come along early.  We encourage everyone to come along and get involved but if you can't make it feel free to let us know any ideas you might have and we'll discuss them at the meeting.

Last week at Trinity before the exams

Hi everyone,

Tonight is our final week playing at Trinity before the school exams start and we have to move somewhere else for the summer so hope to see as many of you as possible there this evening, starting at 8pm as usual.

Back after the Easter break

Hope everyone had a good Easter.

Just a quick reminder that the club is back playing again this coming Tuesday, 17th April, so hope to see you all there especially as there's only 4 more weeks of our regular playing season left to go, although we are currently looking at the possibility of continuing to play more over the summer period.

Just a quick reminder that the school is closed this coming Tuesday (10th April) for the Easter break but we'll be back again the following Tuesday (17th April).

One more week before Easter

Just to let everyone know that badminton is on this coming Tuesday, the 3rd April, so hope to see lots of you there.

The school is closed the following week and so there won't be any badminton but I believe we will be back the week after, Tuesday 17th April, though still to confirm with the school.

Court Free on Friday

There's a match taking place this Friday, the 24th, from 8pm to 10pm which means there's a court free if anyone wants to come down and play.

Half Term's over!

Hope everyone had a good break for half term but don't forget the club is back playing again this coming Tuesday (21st Feb) so hope to see as many of you as possible.

Back for the new year

We're back at Trinity now every Tuesday evening, from 8-10pm, so make sure you come down and get playing.

We're also looking for new members to join the club.  If you're interested in playing or know someone who might be then get in touch.  You can pay-and-play for only £7 a week for the 2 hour session so come along and give us a try.
